Understanding check rules

In the expandable Defaults for new checks section, set Interval (seconds), Timeout (seconds) and Failure threshold for web addresses and TCP ports added subsequently. Existing checks retain their own values.

Setting	Meaning
Interval	Time between scheduled checks; ping, web and TCP: 5 to 86.400 seconds
Response timeout	Maximum duration of a check attempt; ping, web and TCP: 1 to 30 seconds
Failure threshold	Number of consecutive failed attempts before a failure status is reported; 1 to 20
Active	Determines whether this individual check is performed

For ping, HTTP and TCP, a warning appears before the failure threshold is reached. A successful attempt resets the failure counter. Technical check errors may appear separately as Check error. CPU, RAM and other reading thresholds apply immediately to the measurement received; the failure threshold is not awaited for these.
