At least one of the Hosts, VMs or Datastores areas must be enabled. For expected VMs, Virtual machines must be active. Powered-off VMs that are not explicitly expected do not cause an operational error simply because they are powered off. If a VM is not running, its performance values may be missing; the result row explains this. Availability of performance counters and events depends on vSphere and read permissions.
