Agents: user accounts for the interface¶
Agents refers to the user accounts people use to sign in to the web interface. An agent is not a measurement program installed on Windows or Linux. The remote programs for distributed monitoring are called Collector.
All agents have the same permissions. This version of the program has no separate administrator, editor or reader roles. Every signed-in active agent can manage devices, settings and user accounts.
Create an account¶
Open Agents and select + Add agent.
Enter Username, Name, Language and Password.
Under State, select Active if the person should be able to sign in.
Save the account.
The username must be unique. Uppercase and lowercase do not distinguish separate accounts. It has 1 to 80 characters and starts with a letter or digit. Subsequent characters may also include a dot, hyphen, underscore and @. The required display name may contain at most 120 characters. The password must contain 12 to 256 characters.
Edit, deactivate and delete accounts¶
Use Edit to change the name, username, language, activation and, if necessary, password. Leaving the password empty when editing retains the existing password.
An inactive account cannot sign in. Changing the password, username or activation ends its existing sessions. Your own signed-in account cannot be deactivated or deleted. At least one active account must remain. Use Delete to remove another account after confirmation.
If another person changed the account while you were editing it, the application asks you to reload. Load the current version and make the desired change again.
