Updates without losing existing data

Create a backup before an update. Use a new writable working directory; in the following example, the monitoring-update directory must not already exist. Download the complete tar.gz package, extract it and run the installer:

sudo netzmonitor backup /root/netzmonitor-vor-update.sqlite3
mkdir monitoring-update
cd monitoring-update
wget https://ftp.qisutu.de/Monitoring/QisutuMonitoring-1.0.1.tar.gz
tar xzf QisutuMonitoring-1.0.1.tar.gz
cd QisutuMonitoring
sudo sh install.sh

For a later release, use the download address shown on the project page at that time and the same package filename in the tar command.

Choose a new destination file for the backup. The database backup does not overwrite an existing file. If all required system packages are already available, you can optionally add --skip-packages when running the installer. Otherwise, use the command shown without this option.

The installer stops an existing service before replacing the program files. Accounts, personal languages, devices, activation, configuration and readings are retained. The existing initial password is not regenerated. The installer does not create an automatic backup itself.

New database tables are created when the program starts. When long-term data is introduced, existing raw measurements are converted into hourly trends once. With a large database, this first start may take longer. After the update, reload the interface with Ctrl+F5 and check the service status:

sudo netzmonitor status
