Installation from the tar.gz package

The complete Qisutu Monitoring installation package is provided as a tar.gz archive. The following commands match the installation instructions on the project page on GitHub.

On the Linux server, open a terminal in a new writable working directory and run the following commands:

wget https://ftp.qisutu.de/Monitoring/QisutuMonitoring-1.0.1.tar.gz
tar xzf QisutuMonitoring-1.0.1.tar.gz
cd QisutuMonitoring
sudo sh install.sh

The archive is extracted into the QisutuMonitoring directory. The installer then copies the application to /opt/netzmonitor; the working directory is not the final program directory.

The installer checks the supplied files against SHA256SUMS, creates the Linux service account netzmonitor, creates the data directory /var/lib/netzmonitor and sets up the background service. Depending on the Linux system, it uses systemd, OpenRC or SysV. The program is then started unless this has been explicitly disabled.

During the initial installation, the installer asks for the initial language if no language was supplied and an interactive terminal is being used. It then displays the username admin and a randomly generated initial password. Keep this password until your first sign-in.

Option

Effect

--language de

Selects German for the initial installation. Other language codes: cs, en, es, fr, it, nl, pl, pt-BR, pt-PT, tr.

--skip-packages

Skips installation of system packages. Python, OpenSSL, Ping and the clients required for your checks must already be available.

--no-start

Installs the program but does not start the service immediately.

Example with system packages already installed:

sudo sh install.sh --language de --skip-packages

On Debian/Ubuntu, package installations use safeguards against removing packages that are already installed. Existing MariaDB/MySQL and PostgreSQL clients continue to be used. If a missing optional database client cannot be installed safely, a notice is displayed; the associated checks then require a compatible client package to be provided manually.
