Set up resources using SNMP

SNMP must be enabled on the target device and accessible to the monitoring server. The account needs read access to the supported values. The scope and availability of measurements depend on the device’s MIBs and configuration.

  1. Open Devices → Configure → Resources · Interfaces and switch Active on.

  2. Select Credentials → SNMP – Server or network device.

  3. Check the displayed SNMP port, usually 161.

  4. Select the SNMP version.

  5. For SNMPv3 – authenticated and encrypted: Enter the Username, Authentication password and Encryption password. Choose Authentication to match the device: SHA-256, SHA-1 or SHA-512. Encryption uses AES-128 and the authPriv security mode. Both passwords need at least eight characters.

  6. For SNMPv2c – Community: Enter the Community. SNMPv2c transmits the community unencrypted.

  7. Select the required resource types.

  8. Click Save all.

The Disk performance, SMART and System services options are not available with this SNMP access method; these areas require Linux over SSH. Processes, interfaces and supported hardware values can be read depending on the SNMP device.
